Macedonian hitman Goran Pandev has finally got out of his contract with Lazio that ends his nightmare spell with the club for the last 6 months.
Pandev forged a lethal partnership aliongside Tomasso Rochhi in the Serie A in the 2008/09 season that terrorized even the best of defences. Consequently, in the summer, Europe took notice including Arsenal and Bayern Munich. He was rightfully very excited about the links and stated his desire to play among the Europe's elite and feature in the Champions League. But that's what started (or stopped) the ball rolling.
He was frozen out of the squad and Chairman Claudio Lotito openly stated that Pandev would not feature for the Biancocelesti again. Moreover, Lazio decided not to negotiate the buy-out clause (aroung 18 million euros) for Pandev. So, he was stuck in a club that guaranteed zero playing time for the fully fit striker.
He tried talking to the club management with no avail. The then approached an arbitration committe. After a lengthy process, he was finally able to rescind his contract with Lazio and become a free agent.
I just can't comprehend how frustrating it was for Pandev to sit out in the stands being fully fit. This is one of the worst treatments that a player has received from a club in a while.
But, in the positive side, all that's history now. Pandev is now a free agent and can now look for employment. I just hope that the talented marksman would be back and develop to be one of Europe's finest which he was meant to be.
Good luck, Pandev.
